Join Patricia A. O’Gorman, PhD, author, psychologist and speaker, for a step-by step guide to “self-parenting:” embracing your resilience and post-traumatic growth. Dr. O’Gorman invites you to join in a journey of recovery as we face the emotional challenges thrust upon all of us, our staff and our clients as we continue living with COVID-19. Together we will explore the impact of past trauma during this current traumatic experience and consciously confront how we are coping as we build our inner resilience.

Dr. O’Gorman shares, “If you are like me, and probably many of your colleagues and clients, you are drowning in information overload about COVID-19 while simultaneously feeling paralyzed as early painful memories and traumas are becoming conscious again. Reliving these memories is why I went back to my first book on self-parenting, The 12 Steps to Self-Parenting for Adult Children, which was inspired by the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. I began to again explore what I could do, and I want to share this process with you.” Dr. O’Gorman invites you to join in a journey of recovery as we face the emotional challenges thrust upon all us, our staff, and our clients as we continue living with COVID-19. Together we will explore the impact of past trauma during this current traumatic experience and consciously confront how we are coping as we build our inner resilience. Dr. O’Gorman also invites you to join her Facebook group, Self-Parenting in the Age of COVID (https://www.facebook.com/groups/225759358739701/), to build a community of shared solutions. Presenter: Patricia A. O’Gorman, PhD, is a consultant in the Adolescent Program of St. Joseph’s Addiction Treatment and Recovery Centers and the author of numerous titles, including The Lowdown on Families Who Get High: Successful Parenting for Families Affected by Addiction (CWLA Press, 2004).
